Indie Game Development team BearinMind Games launched a Kickstarter campaign to raise funds for their indie title ‘Igneos: The Last Phoenix’. The team currently has a playable demo available for download and aims to raise at least $40,000 to fund the completion of the game. Valve has approved the title via Steam Greenlight for release on their platform upon its completion.
“Igneos: The Last Phoenix is an aerial combat-adventure game that combines
open-world exploration and discovery with Zelda-style dungeon challenges and
problem-solving,” says Dave Dryden, Producer and Designer in the team of BearinMind
Games. “There’s not a lot of flying games that feature both an organic character and a
melee style combat system, we didn’t want to make it feel like another fighter jet game.”
Igneos is based on a game prototype that was built as a final project in a game design
school. After submitting the demo to Steam Greenlight, the community quickly voted the
game up and was approved. The team decided to run a kickstarter campaign to fund the
expansion of the game into a full indie title based on the original concept.
“The game features Pharos, the last remaining fire-bird as it awakens to discover a
once-vibrant world covered in ash and frost,” describes Dryden, who has experience
working for Electronic Arts and other game studios. “The user plays as Pharos, and
must uncover the past to find out why the world has decayed, and naturally, the
player will encounter enemies and challenges on the way.”
